DESCRIPTION:

Despite an unpopular decision to change managers mid-season, Newcastle United celebrated their return to the Premier League with a fantastic 12th place finish, as well as the memory of the legendary 4-4 draw with Arsenal! Ahead of the new campaign, the club continued use France’s resource pool of talent to bolster their squad with, and in the close season came: Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux, and Gabriel Obertan, while the impressive Demba Ba was signed from West Ham. Alan Pardew’s side would enjoy an 12 match unbeaten start to the league season, and a 6 match winning streak between March and April 2012, to ultimately secure a supremely impressive 5th place finish missing out on Champions League football by just 5 points! In the 2nd of Puma’s seasons as Newcastle’s kit supplier; they used black as the backdrop, with very little white, almost echoing the legendary 2001-03 strip. The shirt would be notable for the change of sponsor mid-season from Northern Rock to Virgin Money.
