DESCRIPTION:
Carlo Ancelotti in his second season at the AC Milan helm saw his squad reinforced by the likes of: Andrea Pirlo, Alessandro Nesta, Rivaldo, Clarence Seedorf and Jon Dahl Tomasson as the club looked to re-establish themselves as one of the premier footballing clubs in the world. The results were spectacular, as the club finished 3rd in Serie A, but more importantly, won their first UEFA Champions League title since 1994; defeating Juventus by penalties in the Old Trafford finale! After the 2000-02 shirt leant heavily on black, the 2002-03 shirt was a unique shirt that brought more of the red back into the ‘Rossoneri’. The defining feature was no doubt the mesh fascia that addressed the body of the shirt, which in effect, created a shirt that was more red and dark brown than it was black! Nevertheless, this shirt remains one of the seminal AC Milan shirts of the 21st century!
The notable players that season were:
Rivaldo, Andriy Shevchenko, Filippo Inzaghi, Jon Dahl Tomasson, Marco Borriello, Leonardo, Clarence Seedorf, Rui Costa, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini, Fernando Rendondo, Ibrahim Ba, Christian Brocchi, Serginho, Kakha Kaladze, Giuseppe Pancaro, Alessandro Costacurta, Cafu, Martin Laursen, Dario Simic, Paolo Maldini, Roque Junior, Alessandro Nesta, Christian Abbiati, Dida
