DESCRIPTION:

After their last pair of Brazil home shirts which were inspired by tradition; Nike came back to the present with their latest iteration of the ‘Selecao’s home shirt and this rare number resides as one of our all time NikeXBrazil favourites! The shirt is 90% yellow, however, Nike’s wonderful template that year allows the minimal green accents to enable a simply wonderful shirt! It is a great testimony that the Brazilian Olympic side wore this shirt (with the revised crest) to finally claim that long elusive Gold Medal as they defeated Germany in the Rio di Janeiro Finale on 26/08/2016 with the iconic image of Neymar on his knees in tears celebrating the victory! The senior side would win no less than 15 times during this shirt’s cycle as Tite was installed as the national head-coach with Brasil bidding to become 6x FIFA World Cup Champions!

THE SEASON’S:

Brazil entered 2016 with a 3-pronged assault ahead of them – securing qualification to the World Cup, the Copa America and winning the Olympic Gold at the games they were hosting that summer. The ‘Selecao’ would re-unite in March 2016 with a pair of intense qualifiers with Uruguay and Paraguay before they set sights on reclaiming the special edition of the Copa.

A pair of 2-2 draws would materialise in their battles with Uruguay and Paraguay in alternating circumstances as they surrendered a 2-0 lead to the ‘Celeste’ on March 25th before a late salvo saw them come from 2-0 down versus Paraguay!

Their final preparation ahead of the special centenary edition of the South American championship in the United States would yield a 2-0 win over Panama, however, a makeshift side would not even traverse the group stages as it became apparent that Olympic Gold was on the agenda of the CBF. That predication would be justified as Brasil claimed their first ever Olympic Gold Medal in football when they defeated Germany in an intense penalty shoot-out victory, with Neymar netting the winning spot-kick amongst over 63,000 adoring fans at the Maracana!

Following on from their Copa disappointment; Tite would replace Dunga and he would waste no time in blooding the Olympic stalwarts such as – Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Barbosa into the senior set up; and consequently, he would win in all 6 of his games he oversaw in 2016, most notably, a 3-0 win over Argentina on November 10th!

He’d continue his fine start at the helm into 2017 when cruised to wins over: Colombia, Uruguay and Paraguay! His first defeat as Brazil manager would come on June 9th in a glamour friendly against Argentina, but that result was nothing more than an aberration as they would go undefeated for the remainder of the year; comfortably finishing atop of the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying standings!

The notable players that season(s) were:

Neymar Jr, Gabriel Jesus, Hulk, Gabigol, Jonas, Willian, Lucas Moura, Douglas Costa, Oscar, Lucas Lima, Roberto Firmino, Phillipe Coutinho, Elias, Lucas Lima, Ganso, Paulinho, Renato Augusto, Casemiro, Taison, Fernandinho, Casemiro, Walace,  David Luiz, Fabinho, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, Marcelo, Marquinhos, Rodrigo Caio, Douglas Santos, Miranda, Felipe Luis, Gil, Alisson, Diego Alves
