2006-07 Atletico Madrid Home Shirt Size Medium
Team: Atletico Madrid
Era: 2006-07 (Used for the 2006-07 La Liga season)
This fine shirt remains in excellent condition with the sponsor, Nike swoosh and club crest standing nothing short of immaculate. Moreover, the material of the shirt is as close to flawless as you will find in the current day.
Pit to Pit Measurement: 20 inches
Shirt Length: 29 inches
Made in the Nike ‘Sphere Dry’ mould of the 2006-07 season; while the dimensions of the shirt do lend themselves to a fine size medium fitting shirt, I would also say that this shirt would be ideal for a size large who prefers a tighter fitting shirt.
Atletico Madrid would look to build on their fine Copa del Rey semi-final finish in the 2005-06 season with the appointment of Javier Aguirre as manager, and the appointment was a masterstroke as the Mexican coach guided ‘Los Colchoneros’ to a 7th place finish, however not even a 60 point haul was enough to secure a UEFA Cup place ahead of the 2007-08 season. The team would show just how far along they had come, given that they drew both home and away with Real Madrid, as well as a draw with Barcelona and a win over 3rd placed Sevilla! This would also mark the only full season that Fernando Torres and Sergio Aguero played up front together, as Torres scored a fine 15 league goals in his final season of his first stint with the club! This shirt also has an interesting caveat of being introduced as the club’s home shirt ahead of the 2006-07 season, only for the 2005-06 home shirt to be restored due to fan dissatisfaction with the daring half and half arrangement!
The notable players that season were:
Fernando Torres, Sergio Aguero, Mista, Maniche, Martin Petrov, Maxi Rodriguez, Gabi, Luciano Galletti, Costinha, Peter Luccin, Pablo, Luis Perea, Mariano Pernia, Antonio Lopez, Giourkas Seitaridis, Leo Franco
