Taking over from Umbro; Nike began their association with Manchester City in the summer of 2013 and just like their debut series of shirts, produced some absolutely brilliant pieces of training and activewear such as this windbreaker jacket! While this jacket does still take on the sky blue and navy motif of the home shirt; this jacket distinguishes itself by placing a greater emphasis on the navy while the blue is more pastel than the vibrant blue used for the home shirt; altogether creating a fabulous jacket for either training or casual wear!

THE SEASON:

The 2012-13 season would signal the end of one of the most storied chapters in Manchester City’s history as Manuel Pelligrini took the reins from Roberto Mancini in the hotseat from the 2013-14 season. Carlos Tevez, Kolo Toure and Gareth Barry, theree of the prized acquisitions of the summer of 2009, would not be joining the new regime as they moved on to Juventus, Liverpool and Everton respectively. There would naturally be exciting new acquisitions come in through the door as: Fernandinho, Jesus Navas, Alavaro Negredo, Stevan Jovetic and Martin Demichelis all arrived as City looked to reclaim the Premier League crown!

The season began in earnest with a fine 4-0 demolition of Newcastle United to usher in the Pellegrini era, however, consistency was hard to come by and after a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland on November 10th, Man City would be resigned to 8th place! From there, ‘The Citizens’ were a force of nature as they collected 21 wins from their remaining 27 games to break Liverpool hearts and win the 2013-14 Premier League title on the final day of the season when they saw off West Ham United 2-0 to win the title by 2 points!

Pellegrini would continue to carve his Man City legacy as he guided the club to lift the Capital One Cup in 2014, beating Sunderland 3-1 in the March 2nd Final. There would also be headway made in the UEFA Champions League after back to back Group Stage eliminations; City would reach the Last 16 where they would be beaten by Lionel Messi and Barcelona in a very competitive 2 legged affair.

The notable players that season were:

Sergio Aguero, Stevan Jovetic, Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko, Scott Sinclair, David Silva, Samir Nasri, Jesus Navas, Yaya Toure, James Milner, Javi Garcia, Fernandinho, Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, Martin Demichelis, Pablo Zabaleta, Aleksandr Kolarov, Micah Richards, Gael Clichy, Joe Hart
