DESCRIPTION:

Macron’s 3rd presentation of Real Mallorca’s home shirt would see the black accents continue to be neglected as the 2011-12 effort was almost exclusively red, albeit with some black piping on the side panels and the collar, black hoops on the sleeves and the Macron symbol which has been is stamped in vinyl at the top of the sleeves. The same cannot be said however for the white accents which were now totally shunned, not that it really took anything away from the shirt; in fact the stylish collar and simple red and black offering makes for quite the slick shirt! Although the season would 3 managers try their hand at coaching the club, ‘Los Pirates’ would still manage to secure an excellent 8th place finish; a farcry from the 17th place finish and last day of the season drama to remain in La Liga from 2010-11!

THE SEASON:

What a difference 12 months make; on the final day of the season of the 2009-10 season; Mallorca would finish a point shy of 4th and then incredibly, on the final day of the 2010-11 season, they would finish a point clear of the drop zone in 17th place! Michael Laudrup would be allowed to remain in his post as Real Mallorca manager ahead of the 2010-11 season and he would be the likes of: Tomer Hemed and Pablo Caceres added to his squad.

The legendary Dane would last just 5 games into the new season with a record of 2 wins and 3 defeats, before his former Barcelona team-mate – Miguel Angel Nadal oversaw the 2-2 draw with Osasuna on 01/10/11; paving the way for Joaquín Caparrós to take over the reins. He would endure a difficult start to life at Iberostar as he would have to wait 6 games before securing a first league win with his new club; building a 5 match winning run that was compiled of 3 draws and 2 wins. 2012 would start with an alternation of wins and losses between January and February, however, their form would dramatically improve from the middle of March as they won 7 of their last 12 games to earn a more than respectable 8th place finish!

The notable players that season were:

Emilio Nsue, Michael Pereira, Tomer Hemed, Víctor Casadesús, Fernando Tissone, José Luis Martí, Akihiro Ienaga, Chory Castro, Sergio Tejera, Tomás Pina, João Victor, José Nunes, Pablo Cáceres, Iván Ramis, Juan Calatayud, Dudu Aouate
