THE VITALS:

Team: Newcastle United

Brand: Adidas

Era: 2002-03 (Used for the 2002-03 Premiership season)

Name/Number: -

CONDITION: OK

Regrettably, this shirt has seen its best days with the sponsor having now come away entirely, and small holes and staining developing within the material. Needless to say, these defects have been reflected in the price.

DIMENSIONS:

Size: Large

Pit to Pit Measurement: 24 inches

Shirt Length: 31 inches

Made in the Adidas ‘ClimaLite’ range of the 2002-03 season, this shirt runs a lot bigger than the size large shirts that are made today, and as the dimensions suggest, this shirt would probably fit a size XL by today’s fits.

DESCRIPTION:

Adidas supplemented a mostly black home strip for ‘the Magpies’ with a grey and black offering as the alternate strip as Sir Bobby Robson’s ‘Toon Army’ returned to the UEFA Champions League! Most notably this strip would be utilised in the away defeat against Juventus during the first Group Stage of the competition; a supremely memorable competition for Newcastle, as against all odds, they came from 3 losses from their opening 3 games, to win their last 3 outings to reach the second group stage. The club would also improve on their 4th place finish from the previous season, by finishing 3rd; their best finish since the back to back 2nd place finishes of the 1995-96 and the 1996-97 campaigns.

The notable players that season were:

Alan Shearer, Craig Bellamy, Michael Chopra, Shola Ameobi, Lomana Lua Lua, Carl Cort, Kieron Dyer, Jermaine Jenas, Laurent Robert, Hugo Viana, Darren Ambrose, Gary Speed, Clarence Acuna, Nolberto Solano, Darren Ambrose, Andy O’Brien, Andrew Griffin, Aaron Hughes, Titus Bramble, Olivier Bernard, Robbie Elliot, Nikos Dabizas, Steve Harper, Shay Given
