The white side of the shirt remains in very good condition, aided by the robustness of the felt and embroidered applications; only the wearing to the felt denotes any real notable signs of ageing. The gold side of the shirt however less so, with all the: crest, sponsor and Umbro diamond being printed on; naturally this print has begun to erode and wear over time.

Made in the Umbro mould of the 2001-02 season; the dimensions of this shirt lend themselves to a wonderful size small fitting shirt.

DESCRIPTION:

The 2001-02 season was supposed to be Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge of the club, with the Scot announcing his decision to step down es early as the previous season. Despite the acquisitions of: Ruud van Nistelrooy and Juan Sebastian Veron; the shock departure of Jaap Stam would be a void to great to fill as the club ended the season without a trophy. A cruel away goal defeat to Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League semi-final would prompt Sir Alex to reverse his decision on retirement, while the likes of: Raymond van der Gouw, Dennis Irwin, Ronny Johnsen, Dwight Yorke and Andrew Cole would all feature in their final season for the club. This glorious double-sided shirt was created by Umbro for what was the clubs’ centenary celebration shirt, and ultimately the last shirt to be made by Umbro for Manchester United. Doubling up as the away and 3^rd shirt; it would be worn in one iteration or another in the away games against: Liverpool, Arsenal, Olympiacos, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen, as well as in the Charity Shield defeat to Liverpool.
