Made using the new template Adidas ‘ClimaCool’ introduced ahead of the 2016-17 season; this shirt continued the brand’s new commitment to better fitting shirts, and delivers with a fine size medium fitting shirt.

DESCRIPTION: 

After the revolutionary shirt used at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Germany, where the red chevron was synonymous with the country winning that tournament; the shirt used ahead of Euro 2016 was as simple as a shirt could get; white and black, classic Germany. The standout features would be the use of the 3-stripes down the side panels and the red and amber trim used within the band of the sleeves. The 2014 FIFA World Cup winning shield was also changed; now sporting a gold hue rather than velvety and more copper shield worn previously.

THE SEASON:

The new shirt worn by Germany ahead of Euro 2016 would make its debut in the most inauspicious of circumstances, as it was exhibited for the first time in the fateful 2-0 defeat to France on 13/11/15. The World champions wouldn’t be seen next until 23/03/16, where they lost to England in a stunning 3-2 affair, however, they quickly got preparations back on track with a 4-1 hammering of Italy 3 days later. They would make their tournament bow on June 12^th, where they eventually saw off the Ukraine 2-0, before a draw with Poland and win over Northern Ireland set up a Last 16 affair with Slovakia who had only defeated Germany as recently as May 29^th! Germany would see the Slovaks off with a 3-0 win to set up a quarter final against Italy in Bordeaux on July 2^nd. A tense game would see Germany finally defeat the Italians on penalties to punch their ticket to the semi-final’s where hosts: France lay in wait for them. Regrettably for Joachim Low’s side; they would fall at the semi-final stage just as they did 4 years earlier, however, in typical German fashion, they wouldn’t feel sorry for themselves and instead, began qualification for the defence of their World Cup by winning all 4 of their openers without conceding; a spell that included an 8-0 win over San Marino, before ending the year with a 0-0 draw with Italy, in what was their 3^rd meeting in 2016!
