DESCRIPTION:

Adidas became Manchester United’s kit supplier ahead of the 2015-16 season, thus ending the club’s 13-year relationship with Nike. To usher in the coming together for the first time since 1992; Adidas would create a gorgeous throwback to the home shirt used between 1982-84, which was also made by Adidas. Replete with the white v-neck collar and white sleeve cuffs, complimented with black trims; this is the quintessential modern upgrade to a shirt if there ever was one!

THE SEASON:

Although the 2014-15 season would end without any silverware, the campaign would still be considered a relative success under Louis Van Gaal’s tutelage as he guided the club back to the Champions League. It would be yet another busy summer for ‘The Red Devils’ with David de Gea’s future a constant source of speculation until the very last day of the window! Radamel Falcao, Robin Van Persie, Angel Di Maria, Nani, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Javier Hernandez and Tom Cleverly would all leave the club however, while the likes of: Sergio Romero, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Matteo Darmian, Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial would all come in. The season began with back to back wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, and reaching the Group Stage of the Champions League; however, a poor end to August would prompt the signing of Martial. The return from the international break would see United defy Liverpool 3-1 at Old Trafford, with Martial scoring on his debut! A further 2 wins later would lift United back to the summit of the division. 2015 would end sourly however for ‘LVG’s side, with the club falling out of the League Cup, and would be relegated to the Europa League, after finishing 3rd in their Champions League group, and slipping into 6th place in the league. 2016 would spell much greater fortune in the league; collecting fine wins over: Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City and reaching the FA Cup Final for the first time since 2007. In a bizarre turn of events, a suspected package would be found at Old Trafford on the final day of the season, leading to their game against Bournemouth being delayed for 24 hours. Even with Manchester United winning on the final day of the season, they would ultimately finish 5th, surrendering 4th place to Manchester City by goal difference! Louis Van Gaal’s final stand as the manager of Manchester United would come on May 21st 2016, as he guided the club to FA Cup glory against Crystal Palace!
