Made by Adidas in their ‘ClimaCool’ template which they introduced in 2014; this shirt continued Adidas’ movement towards a more fitted shirt and this shirt provides a truly wonderful size small fitting shirt!

DESCRIPTION: 

AC Milan’s latest iteration of their classic white away strip took its most radical turn ahead of the 2014-15 season with a special crest which pays homage to clubs ‘Mundo Milan’ museum replacing the club’s classic crest, while thin, horizontal grey pin-stripes adorned the main body of the shirt with two very thick red and black bars adorning the hem of the shirt. In what was a forgettable season for the Milan faithful; this shirt would be used in the away wins over: Hellas Verona, Palermo and Atalanta as the club eventually finished 10^th – their lowest league finish since the 1997-98 season. This season would also hold the interesting caveat of Fernando Torres playing for the club for the first half of the 2014-15 season, before he returned to Atletico Madrid in January 2015!

THE SEASON:

While hopes were never especially for Milan going into the 2013-14 season; nobody could have forecasted a catastrophic campaign that saw Massimiliano Allegri sacked in January, and then replaced by Clarence Seedorf who could only guide the club to an 8^th place finish – their lowest since the 2000-01 season when they finished.

Seedorf would be sacked and replaced by another club legend in Filippo Inzaghi, however, the club would pay a huge price for failing to secure European football for the first time since the 1998-99 season as they sold their star striker – Mario Balotelli to Liverpool, while Kaka ended his one season return by joining Orlando City and becoming Major League Soccer’s highest ever paid player!

After Keisuke Honda’s arrival in January 2014 was supplemented by a series of cut-price arrivals in the form of: Alex, Andrea Poli, Jeremy Menez, Riccardo Saponara, Adil Rami, Diego Lopez, Pablo Armero and Fernando Torres, while Giacomo Bonaventura represented the club’s biggest signing at €7,000,000.00.

Milan to their credit, did end the 2013-14 campaign winning 7 of their last 9 games, and they continued that form into the new season, as they won their opening pair of league games for the first time since the 2006-07 season – putting together excellent wins over Lazio and Parma, before losing 1-0 at home to Juventus (who were ironically, now being managed by Massimiliano Allegri). Their fine form continued throughout the autumn and they went unbeaten in their next 6 games – albeit with 2 wins being sandwiched between a pair of draws as they sat jointly with Lazio, Sampdoria and Udinese on 16 points. Their strong start would prove a façade for what was a terrible year end as they won just twice more in 2014.

The New Year would see their woes continue as they went winless in their first 4 games of 2015 – succumbing to 3 defeats, and although the slump was halted when they completed the double over Parma on 1^st February, they would be comprehensively beaten 3-1 away against Juventus, 6 days later. Following on from that defeat, the team would embark on a better spell of the season as they lost just once in their next 9 games, and came away with 3 victories amidst a myriad of draws. The season would end as it began with 3 wins and a defeat – one of which was against 2^nd place Roma on match-day 35; in the end however, Milan would have to suffer the ignominy of 10^th place finish.

For a 3^rd season in a row, Milan would bow out of the Coppa Italia in the quarter final stage, with eventual finalists – Lazio, defeating them 1-0 at San Siro, just 3 days after punishing ‘I Rossoneri’ 3-1 at the Stadio Olimpico.
