DESCRIPTION:

One of the greatest and most memorable shirts of the Nike and Brazil relationship; after the very retro-esque shirt used previously, the effort crafted ahead of 3 major tournaments was spectacular with its use of canary yellow and perfectly placed green accents, this is the quintessential Brazil shirt of the noughties in our opinion!

THE SEASON(S):

Despite only just scraping to the 2002 FIFA World Cup tournament finals, Brazil were no less favourites to regain the title they lost in France 4 years earlier, with Luiz Felipe Scolari’s ‘Selecao’ boasting the fabled 3 R’s at their disposal: Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho; Brazil’s artillery buzz-sawed through Group C with ease, before victory over Belgium in the Last 16 set up the Japanese fans’ dream match-up against England in Shizuoka. Ronaldinho’s freak-free-kick would send his country to the semi-final in a rematch against Turkey, where Ronaldo’s solitary goal would set up a finale against Germany on 30/06/02. ‘El Fenemeno’ would get his redemption with a brace in the final earnt Brazil their 5th World Cup title! Brazil would end the year of 2002 with a record of 13 wins, 1 draw and a sole loss. 2003 would see Brazil compete in both the Confederations Cup and the Gold Cup, as well as begin qualification for the defence of their World Cup title in 2006. While qualification would start with 4 games undefeated, Brazil would fall at the group stage of the Confederations Cup, and then a month later, would be heartbroken in the final of the Gold Cup; in spite of those showings however, it gave the country the chance to showcase many budding talents who would later go on to become mainstays and club and international level!
